Music drop: Metric, Blame One, Doves, Benga and Camp Lo
April 4, 2009
yet another music drop.

Metric - Fantasies
Just came out on iTunes, so you know I had to cop. Very, very good album. It’s good to hear something from them again. If you are a fan of Metric, you will definitely not be disappointed. I think the physical CD release in April 7th or 14th, depending on where you are in the world, I think. One of the better albums I’ve heard so far in ’09.

Camp Lo - Stone and Rob Caught On Tape
One of the most underrated duos, probably ever. I think the complex similes and metaphors are part of the reason for their underrated-ness. It’s like…they are too dope lyrically and swag-wise to not come out with an album, but I don’t think people know how to take them. None the less, this is a pretty decent album – worth your time to investigate.

Doves - Kingdom of Rust EP
First of all, it’s Doves. That’s it…..that’s all I really all I need to say. Cop and enjoy, get prepped for the long play.

Blame One - Days Chasing Days
An interesting listen – good production from Black Milk and Exile, and some others – Blu’s on a track too. It’s hit or miss, but mostly a hit. Like you listen to “The Word to Say,” “Official WIth It” or “Wonder Why” and it’s like ‘dope’, then you get let down by “Blame Me” or “More Fiyah” – which actually has a dope beat, but the lyrics just seem “eh” and the vocals aren’t even up high enough on the track. Even with it’s flaws, it’s worth of being checked into.
Album I Should’ve Had Up Before, But Somehow Forgot to Post:

Benga - Diary of an Afro Warrior
For dubstep lovers – already a classic. “26 Basslines” is really all you need to get you right.
